Here’s What You Wanted To Hear On 1A

By Gabe Bullard

At the end of 2018, we asked you what you wanted to hear on 1A. Your suggestions largely fell into four categories — culture, education, public policy and health. We put the top ideas to a vote and came up with four winners, which we’ll present in the week of January 21.

If your favorite idea didn’t win, don’t worrky — it could still become an episode of the show.

And the winners are…

  • For education: “Do schools address financial literacy? Compounding interest, stocks, and credit cards aren’t the sexiest topics, but they’re certainly applicable after high school!”
  • For culture: “Can you do a show about atheism? What’s behind the increase in nonbelievers, and what is their outlook on life?”
  • For health: “What would federal health care for everyone really cost, and is it feasible? How would our tax burdens change?”
  • For public policy: “What is the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC)? What do they do? How do they do it? Who funds them? How have they affected our democracy?”
